About the brand

Tala was founded in London in 2015 by three university friends, and designs from an East London studio and lighting laboratory. The brand specialises in LED light that is pleasant to live under rather than merely efficient: high colour rendering, low flicker, and dim-to-warm bulbs that shift warmer as they are dimmed, in the way incandescent light used to.

Tala is a certified B Corporation, and sustainability sits in the design rather than being added afterwards — recyclable aluminium and hardwood components, fittings built to be taken apart at end of life, and bulbs blown from borosilicate and soda-lime glass. Several collections take their form from the natural world: the faceted Basalt pendants echo columnar basalt rock, and the Voronoi bulbs are named for the branching geometry of their filament.
