How to Care for Your Bouclé Furniture

Bouclé is one of the most beautiful upholstery fabrics used in luxury interiors. Its looped texture adds warmth and tactile richness to any room. With appropriate care, your bouclé furniture will look exceptional for many years.

Routine Care

Use a soft upholstery brush or a low-suction vacuum with an upholstery attachment to remove dust and debris from the bouclé surface regularly. Brush in the direction of the fabric pile. This prevents dust from working into the fabric and maintains its texture.

Dealing with Marks and Spills

Act immediately on spills — the faster you respond, the less likely a stain is to set. Blot (do not rub) liquid spills with a clean, dry white cloth to absorb as much as possible. Work from the outside of the mark inward to prevent spreading.

For persistent marks, a small amount of upholstery cleaner suitable for wool or woven fabrics can be applied carefully on a clean white cloth. Always test on a hidden area first. Do not saturate the fabric — use as little moisture as possible.

What to Avoid

• Do not rub bouclé fabric when cleaning — always blot or dab. Rubbing will mat and damage the looped fibres.
• Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, bleach or solvent-based products.
• Keep bouclé furniture away from direct, prolonged sunlight which can fade the fabric over time.
• Avoid sharp objects near bouclé — the looped fibres can snag.
• Be cautious with pets with claws — they can pull individual loops and cause pilling or snagging.

Cushion Care

Plump and rotate loose cushions regularly to maintain their shape and ensure even wear. If your sofa or armchair has reversible cushions, rotate them at least once every few months.

Professional Cleaning

We recommend professional upholstery cleaning for any significant marks or for periodic deep cleaning. A professional cleaner experienced with natural and woven fabrics will achieve the best results without risking damage to the fabric.
